Listen Imagine Compose Primary is a partnership project of Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Birmingham City University and Sound and Music. The first iteration LICP1, involved workshops and action research in six Birmingham and three Bristol primary schools. A second iteration LICP2, is now underway in five new Birmingham primary schools. Both iterations have been supported by funding from a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Arts-based Learning grant. The project works with teachers and composers to develop meaningful and relevant composing activities for children, better understand children’s composing and how they progress as composers, and, improve the quality and frequency of composing in primary schools.
